Tendon and joint disorders are the most common medical conditions in sport horses due to increased activity and physical stress (1,2). Tendons consist of fibrous connective tissue and form a strong connection between bones and muscles (3). To maintain healthy tendons and joints or to support the healing process of tendons and joints, it is recommended to add collagen to the horse's feed (3). Collagen is a body's own protein and is mainly found in tendons, joints and cartilage (4). There are 28 types of collagen in the body, of which types 1 to 5 have the most important function (5). Collagen type 1 is the most common type and is mainly found in connective tissue (5).
The positive effect of Synovium Agility Horse on joints has been demonstrated through a placebo-controlled study. In addition, recent studies have also shown that a daily dose of 25 grams of BCP per day has a positive significant effect on the horse's movement (1).
